The collaborative project "Phoenix Rising: Out of Ashes" includes four mixed media paintings with projections above and on the floor in front of the paintings. Birdcages flank the paintings and each has a small LCD light of fluttering wings. The concepts were inspired by the artists' personal experiences with the massive fires in California, the tsunami devastated areas in Thailand and the war ravaged Democratic Republic of the Congo.
