Allen Linder

Biography

Beings and Spheres
Allen Linder creates two distinct bodies of work. One is the macrocosmic, self created human drama. These are his beings. The other is the microcosmic, eternal field of potential. These are his spheres.

Linder has been carving stone for over twenty five years. His figures with often over-proportionately large heads and expressive jade inlay eyes take poses and portray ideas such as “Thinking Big”, “Flying Man”, or “Man in Motion”. Linder carves his gesticulating marble sculptures by hand using only minimal tools. To him, the meditative process of carving by hand is the key inspiration for his figurative work. He often incorporates cast bronze or pewter, semi-precious stone inlays and engraved surfaces.
