Xiaoqing Ding

Biography

New Work
Xiaoqing Ding, originally from Beijing, China, is an artist inspired by her history. Combining her eight years of study in Beijing where she studied the traditional Asian Arts with her more recent exposure to American culture after the political freedom of communist China, the resulting small-scale works are a captivating mix of old world technique and modern subject matter.

The sometimes overtly sexual imagery of Ding’s work is drawn from ancient Greek and Chinese mythology. The dualistic nature of the stories as magical fairy tales and mysterious pathos gives the work a psychological twist; mortal and fleeting types of beauty and timeless sentiments struggle with good and evil.
