We are pleased to announce a new exhibit in our Shack Obscura Project Space featuring an animation & sound installation by acclaimed composer Sydney Davis.
Davis is a Santa Fe based composer and multimedia artist. She is a classically trained musician whose compositions explore the interplay of acoustic, symbolic, synthesized and body-centered elements. Various reviewers of her work have likened it to those of Eric Satie and Brian Eno. She has composed and performed scores for choreographers, installation artists, filmmakers, and poets. In 1992 she was selected for "New Music Across America" to represent the state of New Mexico. Her music has traveled the globe in installations, film and dance. In addition Ms. Davis is closely associated with the Tomatis Method of Listening Therapy, which incorporates this transformative work in the art and science of listening.
Her background also includes audio engineering. Her earliest engineering took place at the dawn of digital recording, included pioneering work in non-linear editing for RCA Records & Soundstream, Inc., as well as the Enrico Caruso restorations. She was awarded 2 Grammy nominations in 1981.
